Symbols

Pearl

The pearl symbolizes the new member because it is the only jewel that grows, developing from a tiny nucleus into a thing of value and beauty.

Pine

The pine signifies lofty aspirations because it has one straight stem pointing toward the stars. It signifies power because it wrests strength from the rocky sides of lofty hills where other trees cannot live. It signifies steadfastness because it stands firm amidst storms.
The pine symbolizes our collegiate members in Delta Delta Delta. Lofty aspirations inspire high ideals in our collegiate members. Power makes possible the greatness of development of each member’s intellect and character. Steadfastness brings loyalty and devotion to others.

Pansy

The pansy is symbolic of friendship, attainable only through the three virtues of patience, good temper and courtesy. Pansy, whose name is viola tri color, suggests our rule of three.

It may be of many colors, including white for purity and truth, yellow for majesty through self-sacrifice, and blue for tenderness in friendship. The many colors of the pansy typify the varied nature of the alumnae membership of Delta Delta Delta.

Dolphin

The dolphin has a special significance (although not an official symbol of Tri Delta) for Delta Delta Delta’s elected officers. It is symbolic of “clear skies and smooth sailing." To the ancient Greeks, the dolphin was a good omen -- symbolizing rebirth, friendship and leadership, which are also important in Delta Delta Delta.
